Elliott Sirah better known as Slimm Pusha was born in Montgomery, AL but currently resides in Atlanta, GA. Since he began his artistry in Jackson, MS he will always rep no matter where he journeys, even while continuously gaining new fans in other cities. Slimm Pusha, originally caught my attention in 2011, with his hot single “Lady friend” that featured Trey Parker now known as Silas. When I heard Slimm’s flow, I witnessed something intriguingly authentic. His voice is smooth and no matter how dope the beat is, I am still able to focus on his meaningful lyrics.

Since 2011, after dropping his first project the “Bing Bang Bata Mixup”, Slimm has not stopped moving. He was on MTV’s Rap Fix Live twice, he dropped more music, and projects with his latest project being “Hennessi Very Special Combaq”. He also has a short film that recently dropped called “Y.O.D.I.E.” which stands for your dream is everything. In the interview below he reveals that his new project “Only For the Freaks, Only For the Righteous” will be dropping sometime at the end of the year.

Slimm Pusha is truly righteous because he not only writes music that hits the soul but his spirit enlightens others to live their true passion. Watch the interview that I did with Slimm Pusha below and comment your thoughts!!!

Here is his latest video “PLASTIK”  which explains how some men and women are not true to themselves or others because they are fake.

Warriors {A Dedication To All Who Have Lost Their Life To Racial Injustice}

Brown girl, brown girl,  what do you see? I see the world looking down on me.

Brown boy, brown boy what do you see? I see the world is trying to kill me.

Wow. What is today? Is this 2015 in the Great land of America, the land of the Free ? That is still so hard to believe.  When America wrote those words “Land of the Free” they already enslaved you and me.

Now, this is not just plain slavery that we have endured for over 400 years or is it the original post slavery period when we were not told that we had been set free. This is slavery plus two hundred years of additional injustices which equals over 600 years of enduring bondage of the mind, body, and soul still being treated as property.

Do not resist, they say but aren’t those the same words that “Massa” used to say. Do as you are told and I just might let you live (wow such privilege for them to say no guarantee that you will not be lynched in the street for all to see. But a guarantee that your lyncher will get away with it. Where have we heard this before).

Let us take a pause, people of color have endured so much pain but “Please don’t be violent back to us just walk the streets until you can re-trust US (us or United States which ever applies).

Violence is not the answer but let us stop pretending we have no idea where this anger is stemming from. Start with yourself and stop any negative or oppressive thoughts so we can build a mental Army. This will allow us to elevate to key positions that will bring change to generations to come.

Remember just in the sixties we were not allowed to use the same facilities as our counterparts. And we had warriors of change to step in and protest for our rights. This must continue.

Let’s all look in the mirror and ask ourselves what do we see. Your reflection matters on how you strive for perfection but please know you deserve PROTECTION!!!!!!!

What Do you see? I pay homage to all of the warriors that have given their lives so we can have a better life through change.

We miss everyone of you, our Warriors.

Who Are You?

Who are you? When this question is asked, so many people quickly answer without pondering what the actual question really means. You may answer, well I am a lawyer, doctor, basketball player, entrepreneur, hard worker, etc.. You may say that you’re  a person that has kids, nice cars, a decent home, etc…. All of those answers above did not answer my question. Those answers are strictly what you do or what you possess but they are not who you are. What will happen if you no longer possess the things you have or participate in the things that you do? What will happen if you get fired from a job or loose your nice cars? Will you no longer be you? Some people believe that their life no longer has value just because they got fired from their profession and now they will no longer do what they used to do. But that really wasn’t who they were.

As humans, we put too much pressure on ourselves and others. This pressure creates many negative feelings which creates a downward spiral of negative events. Pressure is one reason why many commit suicide. Because some feel that there is no point in living since they no longer have or they no longer are a(n) “_____”. Now, this may be a dramatic case but this is how some feel but we must take the pressure away from ourselves.

Now I can’t say who you are because I don’t know you personally but I can answer the question for me. I am an expanding being. I am someone that knows that no matter what things will always work out for me. I am someone that is very grateful and understands that there is a lesson that can be learned in every situation that I experience. I am apart of God and I am striving to see the world through his eyes as he would want me to see it. I am a naturally loving being that recognizes when I’m off balanced from the natural love that I possess. I am one that knows that I will sometimes fall off my path but I am one that will align myself to get back on it effectively. Being in law school is something that I do and having a child is something that I possess but it is not truly who I am.

I could go on and on about who I am because there is more to me than that paragraph above but you get the picture. STOP PUTTING SO MUCH PRESSURE ON YOURSELF!! It is okay to be what you want to be and have want you want to have. But understand that there is more to you than that. So I’m going to ask you again. Who are you? Comment below.

Be Cautious of Who You Are Confiding With

When we go through our hardest times, it is only natural to reach out to vent to those who we feel that are closest to us. At the time, they may be doing or saying anything that they can to make you feel better but some of those people are also judging you in the back of their mind. You may say, it is hard not to judge someone who has done something that you feel you wouldn’t have done. But in my opinion, it should just stay at that statement without the judgment. When I listen to some of my friends express themselves about whatever, I may say to myself, “I would have done something different in this situation” but I do not judge them and think they are stupid for doing this or dumb for doing x,y, and z. I don’t have any right to judge another because I don’t know their mindset fully or know what they are battling with internally. I have had people judge me in the past and that made me not want to reach out to them when I felt like expressing the real. Have you ever been judged for something that you have told to your friend or family member? Are you a person that secretly judges others when they express themselves to you in confidence? If so do you feel that you have the right to judge others for certain things that they do? Be cautious of who you are confiding with! Express your thoughts below.
