Elliott Sirah better known as Slimm Pusha was born in Montgomery, AL but currently resides in Atlanta, GA. Since he began his artistry in Jackson, MS he will always rep no matter where he journeys, even while continuously gaining new fans in other cities. Slimm Pusha, originally caught my attention in 2011, with his hot single “Lady friend” that featured Trey Parker now known as Silas. When I heard Slimm’s flow, I witnessed something intriguingly authentic. His voice is smooth and no matter how dope the beat is, I am still able to focus on his meaningful lyrics.

Since 2011, after dropping his first project the “Bing Bang Bata Mixup”, Slimm has not stopped moving. He was on MTV’s Rap Fix Live twice, he dropped more music, and projects with his latest project being “Hennessi Very Special Combaq”. He also has a short film that recently dropped called “Y.O.D.I.E.” which stands for your dream is everything. In the interview below he reveals that his new project “Only For the Freaks, Only For the Righteous” will be dropping sometime at the end of the year.

Slimm Pusha is truly righteous because he not only writes music that hits the soul but his spirit enlightens others to live their true passion. Watch the interview that I did with Slimm Pusha below and comment your thoughts!!!

Here is his latest video “PLASTIK”  which explains how some men and women are not true to themselves or others because they are fake.

Let Me Be Great! {Inside The Heart of Dolla Black}

“Let Me Be Great”! Those are credible words spoken by the 26th year old Brandon Howard better known as Dolla Black. Dolla Black, originally started his music career in a rap group called “Dem Boyz”. He then decided to venture off on a solo career, along with becoming the CEO of his own label “Black Dolla Entertainment (B.D.E.)”. “Let Me Be Great” ,is the first song on his first solo album “Let Me Work” released on September 19, 2014. However, the title of that song is a rhetorical statement because this passionate artist continues to strive for greatness whether or not he possess the approval from others. Dolla Black is a multi-tasker managing not only being an artist, but also a business man, husband, father, and scholar. He has created a bigger buzz in Jackson, MS, catching the attention of many new fans after opening up for the well known Mississippi Artist Big K.R.I.T., for the “Pay Attention Tour” held in Jackson and Oxford, MS.

With that performance in Jackson, MS, being his first show, Dolla Black is inspired to continue making a house name for himself. Sadly, I have not yet witnessed a live performance from this artist but from watching previously recorded video footage, I feel his high positive energy resonating within my spirit. Now you may say that my last statement is pretty deep but I promise to only give you the truth. If Dolla Black continues on this path of positivity, faith, and dedication he is destined to make it however far he desire to go. Watch the interview I did with Dolla Black below and comment your thoughts. Also let me know whether or not you enjoy or feel great energy from his live or previously recorded performances.

The Infamous Durdy Costello

durdy costello 2

When you first hear a song and its jammin what do you do? Well, the first thing I do is research the artist and the producer. The first element that draws me into listening to a new song is how well the beat is mixed. Of course after that, it is the artist’s job to keep my attention with some well intriguing lyrics. Without great producers, music would be lacking an important element.

I became aware of the 27 year old Justin Allison better known as Durdy Costello, by listening to the music from some of the previous artists that I’ve interviewed. It is likely that, most Jackson-based music or artists have at least some connection with the infamous Durdy Costello. Some of the artists he has mixed for includes Doe Hicks, Luck, Young Vegas, J.Skyy, Silas, 4th Quarter, etc.   However, he is not only known locally or state wide. The song “One Time” that he  produced for the artist Doe Hicks premiered on World Star Hip Hop. Durdy Costello, is not new to the music scene. He began in high school making beats and was the dj for most of the school dances.  He currently is one of the DJs for freelons, mbar, and Houston Bar and Grill. Watch the interview I did with him below and comment your thoughts 🙂

Sachmoe Phlanagan a Musician Not a Rapper

@SACHMOEPHLANAGAN
@SACHMOEPHLANAGAN

 A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Sachmoe Phlanagan formely known as Slim Pickett. Sachmoe is a Jackson, Mississippi native who’ve had an interest in music his entire life. Sachmoe seperates himself from other rappers by being a muscian. He grew up listening to the greats including Louis Arm Strong, Lionel Richie, Gladys Knight, etc… and he also played the chello for 12 years. The single “Out the Mud” from his well known mixtape “Black Magic” has created a lot of buzz around the city. I can’t pinpoint where I first heard that song but I found myself already knowing the lyrics to the chrous before I began my research on Sachmoe.  He is currently working on his album “Distinguished” which is due to drop sometime later this year.

Some of Sachmoe’s releases include:

  • “Workshop” ft. Young Dolph (September 2013)
  • “Is It True” (September 2013)
  • Mixtape “Blowin Like Sachmoe” (October 2013)
  • Mixtape “4 Promo Use Only” (October 2013)
  • Mixtape “Black Magic” (January 2014)
  • Mixtape “Black Magic Reloaded” (July 2014)

Sachmoe will be opening up for Rick Ross, Rich Homie Quan, and Young Thug this Saturday for  the Kings Of The South Concert at the Mississippi Colisuem in Jackson Mississippi. Come out and support! I love seeing people receive opportunities like this and things will only expand if he continues to release a powerful  work ethic 🙂

 In this interview I got real deep and personal with Sachmoe asking him questions that every woman desires to know about men. What prevents men from expression? Watch the interview below and express your thoughts!!

What Will Happen Within the 4th Quarter?

4th quarter

We’re down to the 4th quarter of the game! Will the rookies score with five seconds remaining in the game?!?!? I guess in due time we will figure this out, only I’m not discussing sports here. Johnathan Leapheart age 23, Jeremiah Johnson 24, David Barber 23, and Correll Dear 22, make up the  group called 4th Quarter. 4th Quarter is a group of talented young men from West Jackson, who’ve actually had a genuine friendship since 6th grade. In 2013, they released a single called “Damn Boi” and later released an updated version featuring Tha Joker. Early 2014, they released a hot single called “Plug Anthem” featuring Cooparachi, which I occasionally bump in my car when I’m ready to turn up.

4th Quarter is currently working on a mixtape called  “Not Rich Not Broke”, which the release date is still unknown. When I interviewed these guys, they revealed a huge goal of becoming the first group to appear as freshmen on the cover of the XXL Magazine. So will they score together by being 4th Quarter? Only time will reveal that answer. This is a huge goal that will take super dedication and focus; however, it is possible and I would love to see these guys fulfill that desire!  Watch the interview I conducted with 4th Quarter below and comment your thoughts!

 Listen to their single “Plug Anthem” below.
