TRILOG[Y]Z: MUST HAVE HEADPHONES

Have ya’ll heard about the NEW MUST HAVE HEAD PHONES??? I’ve heard about them but for the first time last night I experienced them. I was invited to this event called “So Soulful Thursdays”. This event is held every thursday  for poets, artists, and people full of soul at Knockers Bar n Grill off Clinton Blvd. Last night was a special night because it was also the release party for D’City’s TRILOG[Y]Z  headphones. D’city told me about his plans for his headphones last year and I was just excited then as I am now, but to actually see his vision become physical reality made me feel high lol. I love when people put  their creative genius into action.

TRILOG[Y]Z are the first ever wireless headphones. All you have to do is insert your memory card full of music into it and it will play. You can aslo hook it up to your computer to add music. On the side there is a message that says “United We Stand Divided We Fall” If I could describe these headphones in one word I would say DOPE!!!!! The sound is also amazing. Unfortunately I wasnt able to win a pair last night but that’s okay because I will definetly pay full price for them. Support my man D’City with these Headphones. They are definelty Juicy!!!

American Fear: Muslims in America

A CNN poll released recently about Americans and Muslims revealed some sad truths about American ideals concerning Muslims. The polls showed that nearly 50% of Americans would be uncomfortable with…

  1. A woman wearing a burqa
  2. A mosque being built near their neighborhood
  3. Muslim men praying at the airport

AND get this 41% would be uncomfortable with a Muslim teacher teaching at an elementary school in their community while another 47% believe Islam values are in contrast with American values. After reading Eric Marrapodi article “Poll: Many Americans uncomfortable with Muslims” I was literally in tears. Even though I am a Christian the fact that people are STILL so ignorant and consumed by post 911 fears breaks my heart. As many CHRISTIAN AMERICANS who have and continue to murder, kidnap, and rape other citizens its sad that so many people STILL feel the way they do about Muslims. Yes 911 were tragic but just because a few out of millions of Muslims did an act of terrorism in the name of Allah we cast them out? What about all the people running around saying, “Jesus told me to do it”? For example the Texas woman who stoned her 2 children to death in 2004 because God told her to. Or the Oklahoma City bombing committed by an American White Man. Did we as a country fear the white men or mothers of America? Of course not, but driven by fear our nation has cast judgment on those who look different.  I also find it Ironic 47% believe “our” values are at odds with each other. The Quran & Bible both teach us to NOT KILL; STEAL, COMMIT ADULTRY, &TO BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER so in my eyes our religious beliefs may vary but our values concerning HUMANITY are one in the same.  It is sad that our nation even quivered at its feet when rumors spread President Obama was Muslim. And if he was, what would’ve happen he’d kill us all? I mean come on, how closed minded can we be? But even with all that the most IRONIC part of the poll was 88% of those polled AGREEED “AMERICA WAS FOUNDED ON THE IDEA OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM FOR EVERYONE, INCLUDING RELGIOUS GROUPS THAT ARE UNPOPULAR.”  Now who’s to blame the media or the individual who buys into the ignorance of fear? HOW LATE IS TOO LATE…

Maybe I’m old fashioned or maybe I just have a set amount of respect for myself that I refuse to wavier. Whatever, the case maybe I expect a guy to be on time for a date. I find it quite rude when a man says he is going to pick me up at a certain time but than shows up 20 to 30 minutes late as if everything is fine. In my opinion that says a lot about a man’s character as well as how he treats and views women.  However, I have a cut off point. After 20-30 minutes of waiting with no phones calls I begin to make other plans or follow through with my plan B.  There have been times when a guy has pulled up in front of my house and told me to come outside (20 – 30 minutes late) and I was already in pursuit of another adventure or getting in a car full of my girlfriends, while telling him that his tardiness and lack of communication induced me to follow through with other plans. LMAsssoofff!!!  A lot of guys have the nerve to say that I’m mean, and a lot of women would still jump in a car with a guy who is excessively late. Nonetheless, there has to be a point in which a line is drawn and a date is officially canceled when a guy is late for a date and hasn’t called to update you. So ladies my question to you is: How late is too late and do you have a cut off time….EXPRESS IT!!!

Hating Off Top

As you all know I attend Jackson State University a historically black University. I love my university because it is filled with all kinds of people with different personalities. Some of those people are who we would call haters. My definition of a hater is a person who doesn’t see any good bringing negativity towards a situation. I would like to speak about a situation called Hating off top.  Hating off top is when you are hating someone just to hate, not knowing any background information on them. I feel that everyone has their own beauty they just need to recognize it. Therefore there is no need to hate against another. If you are beautiful and content with yourself then it shouldn’t hurt you to bless another person with a compliment. I’ve been observing my peers from my school. From my observations most people don’t speak to new people at all or they do if it is for their benefit. Men will at least nod and say was up if they cross another man in their path. But most likely women won’t say anything to another woman. Unknown men and women are more welcoming but that’s probably because they’re sexually attracted to each other. But if a good looking unknown female walks in a room at a party she will automatically get mean looks from the females that are already there. She is being hated off top. Why is that?  I feel that people believe that if they compliment someone else it would be taking away from their own beauty. But you shouldn’t feel that way. If you are “bad” then you should be able to compliment anybody without feeling less of yourself. Beyonce is one of the baddest chicks I admire in the game and if I ever seen her on the streets I would let her know that. I always compliment another female when I feel that credit is due.

Sometimes they respond with a smile and a thank you but other times I get a weird look and a thank you. Most girls are caught off guard by a compliment from another girl because they’re not used to it. I would like for women as a whole to get it together. Is this a self-esteem issue? Or are people that evil not to spread love with compliments? Whatever it is, there is a change to be made and it starts with you. When you see a person looking fly feel free to bless them. Compliments go a far way. You never know how much you could change somebody’s life with a simple compliment. Remember that this is a reflection of how you really feel about yourself. So the next “ugly” person that you think you see is really yourself in that person, your flaws, unwanted pounds, unwanted pimples, and unwanted scars. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, if you don’t want to pass compliments to another that’s fine also. Just release the need to criticize others. If you don’t have anything nice to say then you shouldn’t say anything at all. Express It!!!!

Boo Thang

There are four different weather seasons Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. Everyone knows that during the Fall people are out looking for thier prospective boo’s for the Winter. Most people only stay booed up for the entire Winter and only half of the Spring because when it gets hot outside for some reason people start acting crazy.Verse Simmonds & Kelly Rowland just relased a song called “Boo Thang”.  I really like the concept of this song because although they dont have any strings attached and are only boo’s they still have respect for each other.  When they are together they are only focused on the love that they share. I think that this is something excellent for single people to have. I vote Juicy what do you think Juicy OR Dry?
