The Flyy Guy Behind Boone Flyy Clothing Line

Dontellis Bullock better known as “Boone” is the creative designer of Boone Flyy Clothing Line. Most of his designs are created with the signature insect fly. Boone lives by his personal quote  “I Hustle Different” by catering his clothing line to all ages and both sexes. While currently working on his website, he has expanded the awareness of the Boone Flyy line by word of mouth on social media and reaching directly out to the Jackson community. My favorite designs from this designer are the GOT FLYY shirts and the FLYY crops, so I will be copping those soon! The Fashion Behind The Hit TV Show Empire

Empire is a hit tv show on Fox about the family drama of a hip hop empire. With intense and comical story lines, I am sure not many viewers pay attention to the fashion of the characters. There’s a science to wardrobing in films and movies. After doing my research, I discovered that Costume Designer Rita McGhee, who is also the wife of the most popular producer Timberland, is the mastermind behind the fashion of the characters in each episode. We have Luscious Lyon played by Terrance Howard. Luscious is the CEO of Empire records. His wardrobe consists of powerful, king-like robes and suits, while draped in gold to exude money, power and respect. Rita dresses Luscious in Prada, Gucci, and Burberry. Cookie Lyon is the ex wife of Luscious played by Taraji P. Henson. Her character is raw, flashy and straight forward. Rita dresses her in Balenciaga, Balmain, and low end boutiques because whatever Cookie wears she owns the room. As for the three sons, Rita Dresses Hakeem with the latest gear and sneakers looking like todays hottest rapper because he plays a young hip-hop star on the show. The middle son Jamal, is a singer that is finding his own light between underground artsy and mainstream. As we see his character’s fashion evolve each episode. The oldest son Andre can be seen in business attire similar to his father.

I KNOW YOU CARE Yonce` fashion!

I have been completely obsessed with Beyonce for the past 18 or so years, which means we are practically sisters. With all the concerts I have attended and all of the souvenir booths I walked past, I never had the desire to purchase any of the products with Beyonce’s face plastered on it. Recently, everything about Beyonce has been a catchphrase, hashtag, or a trend. From “Surfboard” to “Flawless” and everything in between, Beyonce is #Winning, I mean #Trending (Sorry stan moment). In addition to the merchandise you can purchase directly from Beyonce.com, it seems that many other vendors, stores, and companies are jumping on the Beyonce trend train.

NAACP Image Awards Fashion

The 46th NAACP Image Awards was held last Friday February 6. Usually with red carpet events a Best and Worst dressed list is used. I searched through the NAACP Image Awards pictures and I noticed that everyone looked great! Maybe I am being biased but my people showed up and showed out. The nakedness and crazy costumes were replaced with grace, poise, and elegance. The women were serving and the mens suits were tailored for the gawds. David Oyelowo, Taraji P. Henson, Beyonce, and Iyanla Vanzant, were just a few of the Image Award winners for the night. Below are some of my fashion favorites that stuck out to me. A girl has to stock up on the basics this Fall. My favorite basics are a leather jacket, graphic tees, boots, and comfortable jeans. The best part about this outfit is versatility. Rock your leather jacket on the cool Fall days.  You can remove it to show off your graphic tee on those early Fall days when temperatures get a little warm.

This look is for those days when you are in the mood to channel your Girly side, but don’t want to freeze! A great solution is a sweater dress. They are easy to style and you can be cute, warm, and comfy all at once. Throw on a pair of boots or booties, maybe a pair of tights on those really cool days.

While you have your boots and tights out why not go ahead and rock a skirt. This Fall it is all about asymmetric and wrap skirts. Many come in unique shapes and some even come with shorts! Gotta love a skort.

Just because Summer is over and our bikini days came to an end, does not mean that we should’nt continue to exercise and stay fit. This will keep us in shape and decrease the work load for next summer. When you have a busy day ahead of you, rocking your active gear makes it easy to fit some workout time in before, after or in between.
